I was tagged by Susan Lattwein, whose Arafura novels have given me much enjoyment. Thank you, Susan, for this opportunity to show off my writing! My WIP is still in the embryonic stage, so I’ll have to cheat a bit and take my 7 sentences from The Slapstyx.

‘Hello,’ said Georgie.

For a moment the girl just carried on staring, as if she couldn’t quite believe what she saw. Then she said, ‘Have you moved into that house?’

‘Yes,’ said Georgie.

‘You do know it’s haunted, don’t you?’ said the girl, her eyes growing even bigger.

‘Who says?’

‘Everyone round here knows – that’s why nobody wants it.’
