Message from Annabelle: 777 Writing Challenge

Millie’s taking a break today, as I’ve been nominated for the 777 Writing Challenge!

Here’s da roolz:

‘The 777 challenge requires you go to Page 7 of your work-in-progress, scroll down to Line 7 and share the next 7 sentences in a blog post. Once you have done this, you can tag 7 other bloggers to do the same with their work-in-progress.’

I was tagged by Susan Lattwein, whose Arafura novels have given me much enjoyment. Thank you, Susan, for this opportunity to show off my writing! My WIP is still in the embryonic stage, so I’ll have to cheat a bit and take my 7 sentences from The Slapstyx.

‘Hello,’ said Georgie.

For a moment the girl just carried on staring, as if she couldn’t quite believe what she saw. Then she said, ‘Have you moved into that house?’

‘Yes,’ said Georgie.

‘You do know it’s haunted, don’t you?’ said the girl, her eyes growing even bigger.

‘Who says?’

‘Everyone round here knows – that’s why nobody wants it.’

So there it is – simple, eh? Now I’d like to nominate Pukah Works, Inspiration in Progress, American Writers Exposed, The Write Transition, Brave Bear Books, Kate M. Colby and Jemsbooks to take up the challenge. Good luck!

What a great 7 lines those are! Perfect for making people want to read more.

  5. Ooooh! Ghosties! What an excellent part to post! I’m still getting to Susan’s tag 🙂

  6. Thank you! It’s a miracle I managed to post at all – my laptop’s been behaving abominably lately. My friend (an IT nerd) says it probably needs a good clean inside. Seems the Slapstyx have even got into my computer! 😀
